Shattered Identity by K. Dawn Byrd

I have a treat today--an interview with K. Dawn Byrd about her newest release, Shattered Identity, which becomes available on April 15.

1.What was the most fun about writing this story?
Shattered Identity story is the sequel to Mistaken Identity, my first young adult novel. It was so much fun to revisit the characters from that book! Lexi, the main character in Shattered Identity, is my "bad girl" from Mistaken Identity. She was fun to write because she's so full of life. She's anything but boring.

2. What was the most challenging?
The most challenging thing about writing this book was figuring out how much romantic tension to place in the book. Lexi is unsaved, refuses to go to church, and is living a life of sin. It was hard to figure out how much to reveal in the book regarding her relationship with Zack, her new boyfriend. A friend, who writes Christian fiction, read it recently and said she thought it was perfect. However, I'm sure someone will be offended by the love affair.

3. Tell us a little bit about your journey to publication.
My journey to publication was not all that long. I'd been writing for about a year when Desert Breeze bought Queen of Hearts, my first published novel. They've been nice enough to take everything I've written since then. They're great to work with.

4. Where is your favorite writing spot and why?
My favorite writing spot is anywhere quiet. I can't write in the living room because my husband watches TV and I must have total peace and quiet. I wish I could tune out the television and conversations and just write, but I just can't.

5. What other author that you have not yet met would you most like to meet and why?
I'd love to meet Lisa Jackson or Lisa Gardner. They both write secular romantic suspense and even though I have to overlook some of the scenes, these ladies New York Times bestsellers for a reason. They can write!
